Coordinated Care, Meaningful Results

Case Study: For This Patient, CorLife Got More Than a Power Wheelchair Rolling.

Background

A 27-year-old Traumatic Brain Injury claimant was discharged to home with a ventilated trach tube, incomplete quadriplegia, a carotid artery injury, multiple closed fractures, axonal brain injury, impaired cognition, impaired mobility, IVC filter in place, and a PEG tube.

The claimant needed Complex Rehab Technology (CRT), Home Health Aides, Skilled Nurses, Respiratory Therapy, and Disposable Supplies, which were contracted through a separate home health vendor.

Challenge

The claimant’s insurance carrier originally contacted CorLife seeking a more-competitive estimate for an F5 Power Wheelchair. But the carrier and claimant were also having problems with consistent home health staffing.

Solution

CorLife reviewed the case and started by securing a new quote for the power wheelchair. A review of home health needs, respiratory equipment and disposable supplies were also completed with detailed recommendations and costs reviewed with the Claims Adjuster.

Results

CorLife was able to provide the same complex power wheelchair for $10,000 less than the original quote thanks to our preferred manufacturer pricing. Through our extensive national network of home health providers, we were also able to secure new staff to deliver in-home care on the necessary schedule.

CorLife now handles all ancillary services for this claimant, providing both the injured worker, the worker’s family and the Claims Adjuster with one person to call at CorLife for any questions, concerns or needs.
